Grillin’, But Not Quite Chillin’

I was going to put off posting yet another day, when Dr. Chako’s comment hit my reader. I guess a day in Iraq without new poker blogs to read is just another day in Iraq; which after reading about Dr. Chako’s typical day, sounds like they all end the same way - with a sandy butt crack. I was also THRILLED to see that “the wife” has launched her new blog called “The Wife - Mrs. Chako’s Side of the Story.” As always, Al Can’t Hang has beaten me to the link. In fact even Iggy has already linked up with “the wife.” Do you guys really have day jobs?
I also needed to get a thank you out Ten Mile. He had suggested that my sleep deprivation issues of late were possibly related to my using my laptop as a pillow, ie trying to sleep seconds after I hit the logoff button. I thought it was a stretch, but the last few nights I’ve put the laptop away two hours before hitting the sack - and I’ve had three miraculous 6+ hours of sleep in a row. Although the mirror is still arguing with me, I feel almost human again. Thanks buddy.

In my continuing efforts to keep Amy sane, I left the house again this week. I went to a one woman show by Leticia Rodriguez in East Austin. Her aunt was the late great singer Eva Garza (in the pictures above). I couldn’t have picked a better outing - great performance and fabulous music. There are still three shows next week - so if you’re around town, check it out.

I also treated myself to a new grill this week. Other than a few brutally hot summer days, it’s grilling weather all year round in Austin. I actually had the contractor for my house run a gas line out to the deck, so I don’t even have to mess with propane tanks. My fourteen year old grill licked the wiggy just before I left for the World Series this year. Of course I waited for the labor day sales, hoping to pick up a deal, but none of the grills I wanted were marked down. I found a really good price online ($100 off retail here in Austin and with free shipping and no sales tax) on the Ducane 4400. It is way cool. And I’d do business with Pac-2000 again in a heartbeat - cheap, fast and responsive.
But even with scorched meat and Tejana divas, it’s mostly been another grinding week at the laptop….but I see a glimmer of light…hopefully no more than another week (which I’m pretty sure is what I said last week). But I swear, fun poker Amy still lives, somewhere beneath this laptop.
I have had issues when trying to fall asleep immediately after turning off my lappy as well. Just came across this have been a fan of your writing everywhere u have been

Thanks for the plug on my new blog, Amy. DrC can’t say enough good things about your writing - he’s keeping tabs on you and the rest of the gang while he’s deployed. Keep reading!

The Wife has needed her own blog for awhile.
Read today’s post and you’ll know why.
Have a GREAT Day Amy

Hey - my Bloglines flashed a post from you and then took it right down. I figure it’s either an old post or one you were still working on. In it, you mentioned living in Poughkeepsie and working for IBM. I grew up in Wappingers Falls! Roy C. Ketcham class of ‘85!
