Ooops, Iggy, and VEGAS

Tenacious D

My blog wasn’t hijacked ala Pauly yesterday; just a minor snafu in the host accounting office.  It totally freaked me out to be disconnected, though.  I guess I’m just a blog junkie. No surprise there.

The one unexpected benefit of having the blog go down yesterday was that BJ Nemeth actually called me.  Since BJ is not a slave to phones and emails, I have now figured out that the best way to contact him is to crash the blog.  This could become an issue as BJ is one of my favorite people to ponder and discuss the big industry picture with.

I did cash in on one of the big perks of being a slacker/blogger yesterday.  With no set hours, I can go out and see a movie when no one else does.  I know, according to the poker blogger code, I was supposed to see Casino Royale (which I am still looking forward to), but yesterday, I was in a Tenacious D mood.  At 11:50 am on a Monday, I was one of four people there; and maybe the only one not stoned out of their gourd.  “Regular” people were at work and Austin musicians were still sound asleep.

Last night I spent quality phone time with Iggy in preparation for his Hold’em Radio debut this week.  Iggy live and uncensored?  Sheer madness you say?  But his appearance is long overdue.  And with Iggy’s recent transition, I thought it would be a good time for him to reflect back on how it all began, where it is, and where it’s going blog-world-wise.  And since Iggy is an SEO wizard, I also used our phone call to pick his brains about the mysteries of traffic and rankings.  I’m such a neophyte about that stuff.  I’m sure he was thinking, “How do they let her loose on the internet?”  So tune in on Thursday night: 8:00pm Central (you do the math if you live somewhere else:) .  If you miss the live show, you can pick it up later on Hold’em Radio’s show vault or iTunes.

Caesars

And yeah, I’m in full Vegas pre-game.  I thought a week would be ample time in Vegas, but my dance card is already filling up.  Of course I’ve just blacked out blocked out the blogger weekend - but this isn’t nearly enough time to do the blogger bonding of my dreams.  I was really excited that April proved to be a worthy stalker and nailed down Caesar’s for the blogger tourney.  And I suspect the MGM is already putting their dealers through a crash course in handling tilted drunken bloggers during low limit mixed games.  I’m reserving time to have a drink with Leigh from The Poker Atlas and get caught up on the Airstream’s latest adventures.  I suspect I will be devoting some time to assisting Michael Craig’s mission to hook up Richard Brodie.  I’m definitely going to cruise through the Bellagio a few times during the preliminary events of the 5 Diamond.  I want to crash the Wednesday Poker Discussion Group.  I want to play at Red Rock and eat at the Salt Lick.  I’ll need some serious down time when this is all said and done.

Almost forgot - wanted to wish the talented and charming Mr. Speaker a happy second anniversary on his blog.

  1. Grab me when you decide to hit the Salt Lick - we’ll see how the Vegas version compares to the real thing!

  2. Down time? With Tunica coming up? Surely you jest. I will ignore all mental images of April and Amy that involve licking no matter how much the pictures might be worth.

  3. Thank you Amy. You’re too kind. That “Salt Lick” thing’s gettin’ me kinda hot, too.

  4. Oh, man . . . I didn’t even realize about the poker blogger code. Is there a cheap download you can recommend?

Actually, I probably have absorbed it somehow ‘cos indeed I fulfilled my obligation to see CR. Will be interested to learn what you think of it.

  5. time/place? looking forward to it!
