Swamped and Swampy

Humidity continues be our constant companion here in Austin.  This has been one strange season; no 100 degree days and twice our annual rainfall in just the last couple of months.  Usually Houston gets the humidity while, Austin stays high and dry.  But this year, Hill Country is donning a soggy blanket, leaving me doing my best Rosanne Rosannadanna impersonation.  I think I’m beginning to mold.

Initially I was a little jealous of Pauly and Change100’s European poker jaunt.  Now, I’m just downright grateful that they signed up to do the heavy lifting to cover the European WSOP and not me.  I get to read all about it and didn’t have to go through the hassle of flying, jet lag, and working my ass off in a small internet challenged casino twelve to fourteen hours a day.  And besides, where would I have gotten those hours?  I’m friggin’ swamped.

For the last couple of weeks, I’ve been putting in long laptop hours; adding more items to the “things to do list” than I’m crossing off.  The cats are eating better than I am.  My dedication to meal planning has been reduced to, “Fuck it.  I’ll get a bucket.”  And if I thought crystal meth would help, spending the last two days listening to Mike Matusow discuss his two brutal years on meth are way more of a deterrent than any person would need.

But all work and no play turns you into Jack Nicholson, so I made sure to get some poker blog surfing in.  And all I can say is, wtf is going on in bloggerville?  Gracie was hospitalized.  Joe Speaker thought he might have cancer - although his post was so..well…erotic, that it was hard for me to focus on the life threatening stuff.  I actually took a fifteen minute stress relief break after reading it.  And Dr Chako has shipped out to Iraq.  Mrs Chako (or “The Wife” as she calls herself) is keeping the blog fires burning.  In fact I think she’s got what it takes bloggerwise.  I’m seeing a spin off here.  On a positive note, it appears that Shaniac has emerged, once again, from blogger exile.  And it seems we have two things in common; we are both eating too much take out and are both fans of the new Showtime series, Californication.

  1. Next spring, include a few pics of bluebonnets in your area, or maybe some of hippie hollow. Just some things about texas I miss. See’ing I left in 1990 for DC and only get back to the Austin area for holidays to see the family/friends. The heat and humidity is what keeps me away :-)
